Terms of Service

1. The service

The platform provides two products. Bulk to Single Cell generates single-cell expression profiles and cell-type proportions from a bulk RNA-seq count matrix using WittGen's models. Bioinfo Analysis provides cloud research servers ("Labs"), storage and an AI Assistant for analysing your own data.

Separate API terms apply when you create an API key; they are shown and accepted when you create one.

2. Closed beta, trial credit and changes

The platform is offered as a closed research beta. It is provided as-is, without service levels or support commitments, and features may change, be suspended or be withdrawn at any time.

An invitation code gives one account a trial credit of $100 (USD) for 30 days from the moment the code is registered, shared across Labs, Bulk to Single Cell, AI features and storage. No payment card is taken and nothing renews. Credit is held while work runs and settled when it finishes. When the credit is used up or the 30 days end, new work stops and running Labs are stopped. Credit has no cash value and cannot be transferred.

3. Research use only

The platform is for research use only. It is not a medical device and has not been cleared or approved by any regulator. Its outputs are computational predictions, not clinical findings, and must not be used to diagnose, treat or make decisions about the care of any patient. You are responsible for validating any result before you rely on it.

4. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

• upload protected health information or any data that identifies, or could reasonably be used to identify, a person. Data must be de-identified before upload, and you will be asked to confirm this before your first upload;
• upload data you are not entitled to use, or without any consent or approval the data requires;
• use outputs to train, fine-tune or distil a model that reproduces or approximates WittGen's models, or try to extract or reverse-engineer the models, their weights or training data;
• share your account or credentials, or let anyone else use them;
• probe, scan or test the security of the platform, interfere with other users, or use Labs for activity unrelated to research (for example cryptocurrency mining, sending spam or attacking other systems);
• use the platform in breach of any law, including export-control and sanctions law.

5. Your data

You keep all rights to the data you upload and the results you produce. You give WittGen permission to store, process and transmit that data only as needed to provide the platform to you, to keep it secure, and to meet legal obligations.

We do not use your uploaded data or your results to train WittGen's models, and we do not sell them. WittGen staff access them only to operate, support or secure the platform, or when you ask us to.

How we handle personal information, where data is stored, and how long it is kept are described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

6. How long we keep your files

While your account is active, the files you upload and the results you produce are kept.

When your trial ends or its credit is used up, your files and results stay available to download for 7 days and are then deleted.

You can delete an analysis and its files yourself at any time, or ask us through the contact form to delete your account and its data.

Deleted data can remain in our backups for up to 14 days after it is deleted from the service, and is then removed from them as the backups expire.

Download anything you need to keep: deleted files cannot be recovered.

7. Our platform

WittGen keeps all rights in the platform, its software and its models. Feedback you give us about the beta may be used to improve the service, without obligation to you.

8. Suspension and ending your account

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, puts the platform or other users at risk, or is required by law to be suspended. Where we can, we will tell you why. You can stop using the platform at any time and ask us to delete your account through the contact form.

9. Warranties and liability

To the extent the law allows, the platform and its outputs are provided without warranty of any kind, and WittGen is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data you did not download. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that affects your rights, we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. Until you accept it, you will not be able to continue using the platform.
